A Nightingale Tribute Service is based on family request.  Most commonly, the tribute takes place at the end of the funeral, memorial, or graveside service.  The Nightingale Tribute releases a nurse, who has passed, from their nursing duties.  This service includes the reading of the Nightingale Tribute, offering of a white rose, ringing of a chime, and extinguishing the light of the Nightingale lantern.  The honored nurse is then relieved of their sacred vows and devotion to the nursing profession.
